Advanced Fundamental Research on Hydrogen Storage Materials

Home > About us

Aim

To establish compact and energy efficient hydrogen storage system through fundamental studies of materials.

Outline of the project

HYDRO™STAR (Advanced Fundamental Research on Hydrogen Storage Materials) has been established to realize truly applicable advanced and high performance hydrogen storage materials for the hydrogen economy by conducting fundamental research on materials and to transfer obtained most advanced knowledge to industry. Experimentally, large scale facilities such as SPring-8 for synchrotron radiation and J-PARC for neutrons join to the project to perform highest level of characterization of the materials and to understand the nature of hydrogen-material systems. Computational science also applied to hydrogen storage materials and hydrogen-material systems to understand their nature collaborated with experimental achievements under HYDRO™STAR and others.

HYDRO™STAR is one of the NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) projects and collaborate other hydrogen-material related project those NEDO is conducting. Harmonization among hydrogen related NEDO project is one of the purposes of HYDRO™STAR.
